Abstract

This study examined seating preferences every bit a function of sex, affiliative trend and sensitivity to rejection, and the effect of seating pick on conversation. The findings indicated that in four-person groups females and more affiliative subjects had a greater preference for closer positions. However, there were no significant relations between sex or the personality measures and preferences of orientation, or particular combinations of distance and orientation. There was more than chat between persons in more than firsthand positions, i.e., those seated closer and/or more directly oriented to ane another. But, the finding relating altitude to chat practical only to those who were sensitive to rejection. The present findings supplement before results and advise a ii-sided relation between immediacy and liking: people who like each other select more firsthand positions relative to 1 another, and immediate positioning of strangers leads them to communicative liking to each other.
